  • Anyone who is conducting business within the town limits needs to obtain a business license from the Town office. The first step is to fill out the Business License Application and return it to the Town office.

  • The park and the gazebo can be reserved for any non-profit special event. Please call the Town Office (540) 955-1099 for details.

  • Yard waste (brush) pick up service is provided on Mondays.  Requests for collection is not required.  Collection may be delayed because of inclement weather or if collection personnel are required to perform other tasks during the regular collection time. When collection is delayed, residents are asked to leave the yard waste in place and collection will occur as soon as possible.  Yard waste should be put out for collection no earlier than the Saturday prior to the collection day and no later than 7:00 am on collection day. Yard waste put out for collection may not interfere with vehicular or pedestrian sight distance or block on-street parking, storm drains or roadside ditches, sidewalks, fire hydrants, water meters, or other public improvements.

    Yard waste to be collected by the Town must meet the following requirements:

    • Loose yard waste must be contained in paper yard waste bags and may not exceed 50 pounds in weight.
    • Brush must be tied into compact bundles that can be handled by one collector. No such bundle shall exceed 4 feet in length, 1 foot in diameter, and 50 pounds in weight.
    • No single weekly collection may exceed 100 pounds in weight.

    The following items will NOT be collected as a part of yard waste collection:

    • Grass clippings
    • Ashes
    • Large stumps or stumps containing rocks or soil

  • To schedule a collection, please call Republic Services directly at 1.800.234.2104 before 3:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to a Wednesday collection and provide the following information:

    • address of property at which collection is to occur,
    • number and type of bulk items to be collected, and
    • payment method (credit card).

    Republic Services, the Town’s refuse collection contractor, will collect appliances and bulk items such as mattresses, box springs, furniture, and other objects that will not fit into the provided refuse toter.

    The cost of such appliance and bulk collections must be paid by the resident. The appliance collection fee is $50.00 per item. The bulk collection fee is $30.00 per item. These fees are subject to change. Such collections are scheduled for Wednesdays, but may be delayed by inclement weather or mechanical breakdown.

    Residents may also take bulk items to the Frederick County Landfill. Information concerning materials that are accepted at the landfill can be obtained at 540.665.5658 and https://www.fcva.us/departments/public-works/landfill-and-solid-waste.

  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover at the Town Business Office, however, there is a convenience fee of 2.5% plus $0.30 per transaction.

    The Town of Berryville has also partnered with Payment Service Network, Inc. (PSN) to offer three options to pay bills online or over the phone.

    Online Payments 

    Click on the bill payment link found on the Town of Berryville’s website at www.berryvilleva.gov. You’ll be directed to our payment processor’s website where you can register and make your payment. Future payments are just three easy steps. 

    Mobile App Payments 

    Download the PSN Payments app from the Apple AppStore© or Google Play™. If you registered online first, use those credentials to log in to the app. You can also view your bill on the app.

    Phone Payments

    Call 1-877-885-7968 to make a payment by phone. Have your bill handy to provide your account number and register. Future payments are just a few quick steps. 

    • Pay immediately, schedule a payment, or set up Auto-Pay 
    • View your balance online (even if you don’t pay online) 
    • Store payment methods 
    • Print receipts, view payment history, and more 

    Payment convenience fees apply: 

    • $1.25 for check and savings payments; 
    • 2.95% (+$0.75 for payments under $100.00) for credit and debit card payments.
    • An additional $2.95 fee applies to all payments made via live representative phone call.

  • Yes. The Town of Berryville imposes a tax in the amount of 4% of any charge upon all meals sold by a restaurant or caterer in the town.

  • Yes. The personal property tax rate is $1.25 per $100 value. *Additional taxes will be assessed by County of Clarke.

  • The Town taxes personal property located within town limits. These taxes are due December 5th each year. The State of Virginia now provides relief for qualifying vehicles. The Clarke County Commissioner of Revenue prepares all assessments and may be contacted at (540)955-5108. *Additional taxes will be assessed by County of Clarke.

  • The Town taxes real estate located within Town limits and are billed semi-annually. Tax due dates are June 5th and December 5th. The Clarke County Commissioner of Revenue prepares all assessments and may be contacted at (540)955-5108. Bills are mailed directly to taxpayers who are responsible for notifying their mortgage companies. *Additional taxes will be assessed by County of Clarke.

  • The Town has contracted with a private hauler to provide trash and recycling removal. The hauler provides each residence with a 95 gallon service cart (refuse toter) for automated solid waste collection service and a recycling container for recycling.   • Yes. Christmas trees are treated as yard waste (brush). The Town collects yard waste each Monday, weather permitting. Do not block sidewalks or storm drains.
