Divisions

The office is led by City Attorney, Bill Smith, who was appointed by the mayor in January 2007.

The office is comprised of three divisions:

• Civil Division - Provides counsel and advice to the mayor, the City Council, and each of the city's administrative departments and offices
• Civil Litigation Division - Prosecutes and defends all civil claims on behalf of the city in state and federal court
• Criminal Division - Prosecutes petty misdemeanor, misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor criminal violations that occur within Civic City
