Town of Berryville personnel recently removed 23 political candidate signs from the public right-of-way in several sections of Town. While such signage is not permitted within the public right-of-way, it is the Town’s practice not to remove them during election season prior to election day, unless said sign(s) constitute a hazard to the traveling public.
The signs in question were mistakenly collected during operations to remove commercial signs within public rights-of-way.
The signs that were removed represented seven candidates across the political spectrum. The Town of Berryville has been in contact with the campaigns/candidates whose signs were removed. The signs will be returned to the campaigns/candidates before the end of business today.
The Town of Berryville apologizes for this incident.
