[ARCHIVED] Construction Notice for Railroad Crossing Work on Josephine Street

Construction Notice for railroad crossing work on Josephine Street

General Excavating Incorporated (GEI) of Warrenton, VA will begin work within and adjacent to the Norfolk and Southern right-of-way on Josephine Street on June 28, 2023. Work is anticipated to begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue 24 hours/day for three (3) days. If inclement weather or equipment failures delay or extend this schedule, work is expected to begin or resume as soon as conditions allow and without additional notice.  Josephine Street will remain open to local traffic during this construction.

Pipe installation and pavement patching are expected to continue into the summer of 2023. Full pavement restoration on the street will likely occur in the fall of 2023.

During the project residents should expect:

  • increased construction noise and construction traffic,
  • traffic delays,
  • occasional brief traffic stoppages, and
  • occasional water service interruptions (notice will be provided for planned service interruptions).
