Forecasted Winter Storm
It is expected that our area will receive measurable snow within the next few days. The Town of Berryville is preparing for that storm and wants everyone to be aware of the following:
- The Town’s website (www.berryvilleva.gov) will be updated as needed throughout the storm. All notices issued from the Town during the storm will originate from its website and related Notify Me function. No notices will be sent via the CODE RED program.
- Various sections of the Berryville Code regulate activity during snow events. Those Code sections are listed in one notice which is available on the Town’s website.
- Parking will be restricted in parts of the downtown during and immediately after the storm. A more detailed notice about this restriction is available on the Town’s website.
- Brush collection for Monday, January 26, 2026 has been canceled. The next scheduled collection will occur on or about February 2, 2026.
- Refuse and recyclables collection scheduled for next week may be affected by this storm. Updates on refuse and recyclables collection will be provided on the Town’s website.
During this storm the Town requests that you:
- Follow storm-related Berryville Code regulations. The pertinent regulations are provided on the Town’s website.
- Be prepared to sustain you and your family for at least 72 hours without electrical service or access to grocery stores and the like.
- Assist your neighbors with snow removal operations as you are able.
- Shovel around fire hydrants to ensure that they are accessible during an emergency.
- Refrain from shoveling or blowing snow onto streets.
- Stay off of streets during and immediately after the storm.
- Park vehicles in driveways where possible.
Remember that:
- During winter storms Town snow removal crews will focus their efforts on high-priority streets (e.g. Main Street, Buckmarsh Street, Mosby Boulevard, Hermitage Boulevard, Jack Enders Boulevard, Chalmers Court, etc.) and will make their way to lower priority secondary streets as they are able.
- Snow plow passes through secondary streets during snow storms are intended to facilitate access by emergency personnel. As the storm wanes and ends, work begins to clear streets to enable resident ingress and egress.
- Snow plows move snow: therefore, the snow that is cleared from the street is necessarily deposited elsewhere. Plowed snow will be deposited in front of driveways, mailboxes, etc.
